August Coach's Corner News. Smoke, Dinners, Events.

9 Aug 2021 by Troy D Pfitzer

Hello all.
Everyone is wrapping up last minute vacations before school begins. Enjoy those last days. It has been great seeing many riders coming out to our practices. The team is flourishing with new faces and all the energy they bring! It has been fun and very successful so far as we head into our 2021 season.
Smoke is making our air conditions poor. I will not advise you on choices for practicing during these days. Read up on exercising in smoky conditions and decide as a family what works for you. We had to ride in smoke the entire season last year with the fires. At some point I forgot what blue skies looked like until we got our first decent snow. If we need to cancel a practice look for updates in Events or News on Team App. It is a great idea to check Team App before rides anyway just to see if there are any updates.

Team dinner – Our first is just a couple days away on Wed. from 6-8. See EVENTS for details. We will not begin right at 6 since riders and coaches will still be getting to the dinner from their rides so don’t rush to be early. Information at the dinner will likely begin around 6:30. If you are there at 6 you will get a chance to eat and meet other parents and riders. We will address questions and get important information out during this dinner so please attend if you can.

Our Family Weekend in Salida is approaching on August 27-29. See EVENTS. Please RSVP ASAP! Having time to plan requires knowing who is attending.

Remember parents (and riders). Please read or at least skim the emails coming from the Colorado High School Cycling League. They have important information on things you need to know such as registering for races.
Speaking of registering for races – registration is open. You can register for one race of all of them. The team will send out a notification in NEWS on Team App when the deadline is approaching for a race but please try to read team and league information as it saves much time for admin and coaches.

Sorting riders into the appropriate squad is happening. If you feel like you are misplaced let a coach know and we will discuss.
New riders are still being welcomed daily. We will continue taking new riders for at least another month. If you know someone interested, let them know.

Finally, for your new riders and a reminder for returning riders.
